World Oceans Day

World Oceans Day

June 08, 2018 115 Comments

Today’s the day when humanity focuses on solutions for a healthy ocean. From the Great Pacific Garbage Patch which acquires more plastic every day, to the mining projects that threaten the Great Barrier Reef, we’ve all seen or heard of some of the issues that face our blue waters. Another issue that involves the health of the ocean is the use of certain chemicals in cosmetics and other products.

As we become more informed about the consequences for the things we buy and the products we use, we hope that people become more conscious and begin to use the smarter alternatives that are out there.

At Sun Bear Sunscreen, we have developed a formula that doesn’t contribute to the bleaching of our precious and beautiful corals. They take hundreds, even thousands of years to grow and all it takes is a single drop of oxybenzone to have a disastrous impact on their health. Most sunscreens contain oxybenzone because it’s a fantastic UV absorber but it’s not the only one that keeps our skin safe.

Our Sunscreen is oxybenzone free, PABA free, palm oil free and animal cruelty free. It’s a fantastic alternative to your typical sunscreen and it’s still SPF 50+ and what’s even better is that 80% of our profits go to saving the world’s smallest bear, the Sun Bear. Oh, and the tube that it’s in is 100% recyclable 😊

Check out our online store and grab some sunscreen today. You’ll be helping us keep the ocean safe from oxybenzone while you save your skin and theirs.

FUN FACT: In 2013, a Chinese bloke was planting some Banana Trees when someone strolled on over to him and offered him two puppies. He bought these gorgeous little puppers and groomed them every day, taking very good care of them...

What's Your Footprint?

There’s a lot of talk nowadays about ecological footprints (how much of an impact you have on the planet), emissions, sustainability and eco-friendly alternatives. Do we all need to turn vegan? Do we throw our cars away and buy a bike? Do you need your own garden to have a small enough footprint to make a difference? Where is this made? How was it made? What’s in it? Surely there’s a better option.
